Before: Weathered Paint & Damaged Decking

Over time, harsh Wisconsin winters and summer moisture take a heavy toll on outdoor living spaces. This deck top surface in Pleasant Prairie, WI was showing severe signs of age, including peeling red paint, cracked boards, and areas of wood rot that compromised both its safety and appearance. Exposed to the elements, the worn surface would no longer protect the underlying timber, making a complete restoration essential to maintain structural integrity and curb appeal.

Preparation: Board Replacement & Deep Sanding

A long-lasting deck refinish requires thorough surface preparation. We started by removing the rotted sections and replacing them with high-grade, pressure-treated lumber to ensure a solid foundation. Next, we used heavy-duty commercial deck sanders to strip away years of flaking paint, smooth out rough wood fibers, and reveal clean, bare timber across the entire platform and stairs. Proper sanding ensures optimal adhesion for all future coatings.

Priming & Painting: Complete Deck Transformation

With the wood completely prepped and smoothed, we applied a premium exterior primer to seal the fresh lumber and prevent moisture penetration. We then finished the project with heavy coat of high-durability, solid exterior deck sealer in a rich red finish. The result is a beautifully restored, fully protected outdoor deck and staircase built to withstand the seasons for years to come.
